About Wonder Nook

At Wonder Nook Counseling, therapy is a space where you don’t have to face difficult emotions or experiences alone. Sometimes we learn to push feelings aside, hold everything together, or keep moving because that was what we needed to do to get through difficult experiences. Over time, though, the things we carry can begin to affect how we feel about ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world.

Counseling offers a place to slow down and become curious about what is happening beneath the surface. Together, we can make room for emotions and experiences that may have been difficult to understand, express, or process on your own. Rather than focusing only on reducing symptoms, therapy can help you understand where your patterns come from, recognize the ways you have learned to protect yourself, and begin creating new ways of relating to yourself and others.

Wonder Nook Counseling is grounded in the belief that healing often happens when our experiences can be safely felt, understood, and shared in the presence of another person. You do not have to arrive knowing exactly what is wrong or what you need. We can begin with where you are.

My approach to counseling is primarily emotion-focused and attachment-informed, with influences from Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP).

Attachment theory helps us understand how our earliest and most meaningful relationships can shape the ways we experience emotions, connect with others, respond to vulnerability, and protect ourselves when we feel hurt or unsafe. These patterns often developed for good reasons, even when they no longer work as well for us today.

Emotion-focused and experiential approaches invite us to go beyond simply talking about what happened and gently explore what is happening emotionally in the present. In therapy, we may slow things down, notice emotions as they emerge, explore the meaning underneath them, and become curious about the ways you have learned to cope, disconnect, protect yourself, or reach for connection.

This does not mean pushing you into emotions before you are ready. Therapy is collaborative and paced with attention to safety, trust, and your individual needs. My role is not to tell you what you should feel or who you should become, but to come alongside you as we work to understand your experiences and make room for emotions that need to be felt, understood, and processed.

Over time, the goal is not simply to understand your story intellectually, but to help you experience yourself differently within it—with greater emotional awareness, self-compassion, connection, and freedom to move forward.
