Sometimes life leaves us carrying more than we know how to hold.

Feelings can be difficult to identify, hard to put into words, or simply too overwhelming to feel. You don't have to make sense of it all on your own.

We find ways to keep going—pushing feelings aside, staying busy, disconnecting, or simply doing what needs to be done.

But what helped us get through difficult experiences may not help us heal from them.

Therapy offers a place to slow down and gently explore what you've been carrying.

Why Come to Therapy?

Healing doesn't have to happen alone.

Some things are difficult to face by ourselves. Having someone alongside you to listen, understand, and bear witness to your experience can create the safety needed to approach difficult emotions and begin healing.

Therapy that goes beneath the surface.

My approach is warm, relational, and experiential. Together, we'll become curious about what you're feeling, understand the ways you've learned to protect yourself, and make room for emotions and experiences to be felt, understood, and processed.

There's room for you here.

You don't need to have the right words or know exactly where to begin. You can come with uncertainty, complicated feelings, or simply the sense that something needs to change. We can begin there together.

About the Therapist

Hi, I'm Sara. I am a licensed professional counselor serving clients in Kansas. I graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University.

I grew up in Uruguay and later made the United States home. Living across cultures has shaped the way I understand people, relationships, belonging, and the many experiences that influence who we become. I am also fluent in Spanish and welcome the opportunity to provide counseling in either English or Spanish.

My own positive experiences with EMDR, as a client, played an important role in drawing me toward the counseling profession. Experiencing firsthand what it was like to have a safe and supportive space to work through difficult experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the healing that can happen within the therapeutic relationship.

As a therapist, I bring warmth, curiosity, and a genuine interest in understanding your experience. I believe our emotions make sense in the context of what we've lived through, even when they feel confusing or overwhelming in the present.

My approach is relational, attachment-based, and experiential. I value creating a space where you can feel safe enough to be yourself—not who you think you are supposed to be. You don't need to have the right words or know exactly where therapy needs to go. We'll discover that together.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy various creative outlets, including art and photography, and appreciate the quiet scenes in nature. I also appreciate the small things that make a space feel comfortable and welcoming. Those parts of me influence Wonder Nook Counseling too: my hope is that it feels less like a clinical space and more like a place where you can settle in, be curious, and have room for whatever you bring with you.
